I’ve always believed that the heart of Seoul isn’t found in guidebooks or trendy spots, but in the quiet corners — the tiny restaurants, hidden cafés, and backstreets that tell their own stories. Hidden Seoul Food began as my way of sharing those discoveries — places I’ve stumbled upon by chance, meals that surprised me, and spaces that capture the city’s soul. This blog is for anyone who loves exploring what’s unseen, tasting what’s forgotten, and finding beauty in the hidden sides of Seoul.

Songhua Shanxi Cut Noodles: Knife-Cut Noodles Worth the Wait 🍜✨
Songhua Shanxi Cut Noodles
48 Ttukseom-ro 27-gil, Gwangjin District, Seoul
After catching the earliest screening of Mission Impossible 8 (long but totally worth it), I was definitely in the mood for something satisfying to eat. Being in the heart of Konkuk University, I decided to check out a well-known spot for authentic 도삭면 (knife-cut noodles) near the theater.
I arrived at 12:30, only to find 37 parties already ahead of me. Both the original location and its second branch, just 50 meters away, had long queues. But honestly, the wait is absolutely worth it.
The noodles were incredible — super chewy in the best way, packed with flavor. I also ordered fried eggplant and some dim sum. While the dim sum wasn’t mind-blowingly delicious, it carried that authentic taste I remember from China, which I really appreciated.
I definitely overdid it by also ordering Mapo tofu, but somehow I managed to finish everything. There are still a few dishes I haven’t tried yet, and I’m already planning my next visit — maybe right after another awesome movie?
