I’ve always believed that the heart of Seoul isn’t found in guidebooks or trendy spots, but in the quiet corners — the tiny restaurants, hidden cafés, and backstreets that tell their own stories. Hidden Seoul Food began as my way of sharing those discoveries — places I’ve stumbled upon by chance, meals that surprised me, and spaces that capture the city’s soul. This blog is for anyone who loves exploring what’s unseen, tasting what’s forgotten, and finding beauty in the hidden sides of Seoul.

Oldies Taco, Euljiro: Hidden Taco Heaven 🌮🌧️
Oldies Taco
17-4 Cho-dong, Jung District, Seoul
I love Mexican food—bar none. So when I say Oldies Taco serves some of the best tacos in the city, I don’t say it lightly.
Tucked away deep in the alleys of Euljiro—an area better known for lighting stores and construction supply shops than for food—this place is the last spot you’d expect to find a legit taco stand. And that’s exactly what makes it so special.
There are actually two branches, located just a few steps apart, each with a slightly different menu. One is standing-only, while the other has bar seating. You can even mix and match — order from one and enjoy your tacos at the other. The casual, no-frills setup only adds to its charm.
I visited on a rainy weekday afternoon. I grabbed my taco, found a seat outside, and just sat there — eating, people-watching, and soaking in the sound of light rain. Somehow, tacos taste even better in the rain; the experience felt unexpectedly perfect.
A reliable friend warned me that weekends are packed — lines out the door, nearly impossible to get a spot. To really enjoy the experience, I highly recommend visiting on a weekday. Even better? Come for Taco Tuesday, when the vibes and the tacos are at their peak.
